Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: Conduct field investigations and analyze assemblies involving various structural and construction related problems involving residential, commercial, and industrial structures Determine of the presence of damage and extent of construction assembly failures, water intrusions, roof damage, construction defects including envelope, roof, wall and glazing Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, siding/fenestration evaluation, and vibration analysis Analyze buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with various codes and industry standards Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients Responsible for retention and development of client relations Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document presence of damage, potential causes of failure, extent of loss, and general recommended remediation Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships, and promote self to client groups Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Position Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree highly preferred Experience with design and construction documents and applicable code requirements. Experience with design/construction of various materials (wood, steel, concrete, masonry) highly preferred Familiar with documents produced during construction of structures Minimum of eight (8) years of post-academic civil / structural engineer experience P. E.
