Capital University invites applications for the position of Dean of the School of Nursing. The University is seeking a visionary and transformational leader who will continue and extend the School of Nursing's rich history of excellence in nursing education. The School of Nursing desires candidates of distinguished professional achievement and administrative accomplishment to be the nursing program's senior academic officer. Eligibility for RN licensure in Ohio, a doctoral degree in nursing or related field, and a master's degree in nursing are required. The Dean of Nursing will have demonstrated success related to academic and teaching excellence and intellectual inquiry as well as a demonstrated commitment to institutional and community service. The Dean of Nursing is responsible to guide strategic planning for the nursing programs and will establish and develop collaborative partnerships with health care agencies. The Dean will provide leadership, counsel, and support to faculty, staff, and students; monitor trends in nursing education and healthcare; and will support teaching, scholarship, and service activity. Candidates will have experience in program administration, budget planning, grant writing, and collaboration with academic, organizational, and community constituents. The Dean of Nursing will partner with University Advancement to develop new resources to support the mission and goals of Nursing. The program administrator will be responsible for academic quality, accreditation, and assessment standards, and ensuring outcomes. The Dean will also assure program compliance with regional and state regulators. The Dean of Nursing will additionally collaborate in policy or political initiatives and will participate in professional organizations to advance the School of Nursing and the Profession. Capital University is located in Columbus, Ohio and was chartered in 1850 in the tradition of Lutheran higher education. The University includes the College, Law School, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary and offers a unique mix of liberal arts and professional programs including undergraduate degrees with more than 70 majors as well as 10 graduate degrees to approximately 3,300 students. To support the mission and philosophy, the School of Nursing affiliates with over 50 hospitals and community agencies and encourages research, service, and professional activities. The Dean of Nursing will support the mission and values of Capital University as well as the mission and philosophy of the School of Nursing. The Dean of Nursing is expected to participate in leadership across areas withing the University to enhance the student experience, success, and enrollment. This position resides in the Academic Affairs Unit of Capital University and reports directly to the University Provost.
