Closing: February 20, 2024 Teck is looking for motivated geoscientists to support Teck’s exploration efforts in the world-class Red Dog District in the De Long Mountain range of northwestern Alaska, U. S. A. Reporting to the Geotechnical Engineering Manager, the Senior Geotechnical Specialist (or Engineer) is responsible for the management of third-party geotechnical contractors in the planning and execution of geotechnical and hydrogeological field investigation programs to support the design development requirements for the project, including both surface and underground mine development. The Senior Geotechnical Specialist (or Engineer) is working in close collaboration with Teck corporate technical services (TS) team (including geotechnical, hydrogeological, and mine design subject matter experts (SMEs)). This role will require a field execution component working alongside the project exploration group and contractors/consultants to manage the safe and successful execution of the geotechnical and hydrogeological field investigation programs at the development site. The nature and location of work will require seasonal international travel if living outside of the USA to the project site. Field programs are conducted from approximately April to October, with rotations consisting of roughly 15 days on (in the field), followed by 13 days off. The nature of the work is diversified and will require both strong practical and analytical skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong organizational and task prioritization skills, and the flexibility to handle changing priorities. Leadership forms the basis of a safe and healthy workplace and involves both making a commitment to put health and safety into action and proactively managing it.
