FreeStar Financial Credit Union is looking for a dynamic and passionate professional to join our accounting team! If you are someone who is detailed, able to follow procedures, and can perform routine accounting and clerical functions, this may be the right job for you! Job Location: Clinton Township Days: Monday-Friday Benefits: 3 weeks PTO available in the first year 401k with up to a 6% match Up to a 5% year-end bonus Purpose Of This Position: The purpose of an Accounting Specialist is to support our members and team members ensuring compliance and accuracy performing a variety of duties pertaining to accounting functions. What You'll Do In This Role: Post exceptions and daily balancing for ATM, ITM, Debit Card, Visa, Share Draft and ACH (Automated Clearing House). Training team members in other departments in Accounting related matters to increase overall knowledge and assist them with different functions as part of their primary duties. Lead and participate in workshops and accounting related trainings. Post general ledger entries. Balance daily work for branches - Check 21. Balance subsidiary accounts to the general ledger on a daily basis. Perform month end balancing processes. Balance corporate checks and money orders. Send and receive wire transfers, process ACH originations. Research Fed adjustments and correct or adjust. Process returned items for collections. Process ACH and share draft returns. Supervise escheat process of accounts and corporate checks. Process Notifications of Change and death notifications. Process reclamations. Prepare weekly and monthly reports. Order cash for branches. Process expense reports and corporate credit cards. Process back up withholdings. Have skills and abilities to back up other accounting positions in department. Exhibits knowledge and produces work proving knowledge of accounting concepts. What You'll Bring To FreeStar Financial: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred. Three to five years of Accounting and/or related experience in the financial industry preferred. Must have knowledge of various federal regulations and the responsibilities relating to each act of the following: Right to Financial Privacy Act Regulation E (EFTS) Regulation CC (Funds Availability) Truth in Savings Act Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) ACH Rules What You'll Get Working at FreeStar Financial: Be a part of an accounting team integral to the service of our members, and success the credit union!
