Kitchen Advocate (Cook) Full Time | 10:30 - 7:30 pm | Monday & Saturday Off Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Kitchen Advocate for CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence in Columbus, Ohio. LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence has been the sole resource for victims seeking shelter in Franklin County for more than four decades, providing a Temporary Emergency Shelter, 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, DV Counseling, Legal Advocacy, Peer Support Groups and more. The ideal candidate will share Our Mission : Creating a better world by serving people in need. What will I do as a Kitchen Advocate with Lutheran Social Services? Ensure meals are appetizing and nutritionally balanced. Utilize proper food storage techniques. Coordinate and assist volunteer efforts, using a trauma informed approach with resident volunteers. Comply with sanitation procedures of state and facility. Accept, properly log, and store donations including marking date and item. Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of LSS CHOICES and is knowledgeable of client rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the respect, dignity, and well-being of all clients in a safe, secure environment. Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs. Supports and participates in common teamwork: Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform, and dress codes including personal hygiene. Requirements for a Kitchen Advocate with Lutheran Social Services: High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience Previous food service experience required. Experience working with low income, diverse, or homeless population, preferred. As one of the largest non-for-profits in Central Ohio, we value our employees.
