About the role The Builder Technical Specialist is responsible for raising brand and technical awareness, specification, and sales for Leviton products, reporting to the Director, National Builder Sales. This role will be located on-site in the Orlando, FL area. Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with key residential and commercial builders and developers to initiate business opportunities, related to Controls, Lighting, Electrical and Network Infrastructure. Assist in the Leviton Live Customer Experience by being the technical subject matter expert of ALL current and future Leviton solutions during scheduled customer visits. Grow sales in the assigned product lines with assigned account(s). This individual must work cross-functionally with all Business Unit's (BU's) sales, product management, applications engineering, technical support, and marketing to create and develop new business consistent with the BU strategies. The BDM should write, conduct, and host multi-BU training, and technical presentations. Coordinate sales calls and develop strategies alongside Leviton sales resources, with tour participants for the purpose of improving Leviton penetration in the Orlando area. Increase sales with any designated accounts assigned by Leviton management. Increase sales in designated product categories across multiple business units. Responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and reporting all relevant sales activities, results, and achievements to management. Communicate various market information and obstacles, such as product acceptance issues, marketing concepts and ideas for new product development to the appropriate channels within the company (i.e., Product management, engineering, and marketing). Manage and work within assigned yearly budgets and submit expenses on a bi-weekly basis. Responsible for professional and timely administrative duties pertaining to this job (i.e., expense reports, monthly sales reports, yearly sales plan) Responsible for tracking and achieving agreed upon MBOs (Management by Objectives) jointly created and assigned by supervisor. Review the current training programs provided internally and externally and develop a comprehensive recommendation to senior management on the training needs, alternatives available, costs, and time to implementation. Assist in technical and non-technical tours at the LIVE facility. Assume a lead role in technical training for contractors, builders and distributors when required. Interact with corporate marketing to ensure either consistency of approach or outline clear need for differentiation. Ensure product solutions are continually upgraded within Leviton Live, annually based on market requirements and changes in the product lines. Qualifications Strong training and product presentation skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Proven track record of increasing sales. Flexible approach to problem solving. Creative, resourceful, and willing to think independently. Critical thinking in the development of recommendations. Ability to clearly articulate plans and influence others. Extremely well organized, willing to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and work within a matrix organization. Education & Experience A minimum of a bachelor's degree (Engineering or Business) or relevant electrical industry experience, with smart products focus. Minimum of 3 to 5 years industry experience required, along with to 3 to 7 years of training and sales experience in related markets. A deep understanding of residential and commercial / smart home automation, IoT and connected home is required. Travel 10-15% as required.
