Senior Attorney

We are looking for an experienced senior attorney to help our clients achieve favorable outcomes with legal matters. You will advocate for clients, advise them on the best course of action, and implement their legal support plan. You should have previous trial experience, be able to manage a heavy caseload, and use your general counsel experience and interpersonal skills to mentor our lower-level associates to ensure a continued legacy of prosperity. Responsibilities: --- Prepare legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, notices, and discovery requests/responses --- Strategize, prepare for, and attend trial proceedings, mediation, and arbitration --- Keep apprised of changes to local, state, and federal statutes and laws --- Represent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedings --- Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions --- As our Firm's Senior Associate, you will exercise independence in devising legal strategies, providing excellent legal representation to our clients, and serving as a leader to our team. To be a key player on our team, you must be dedicated to excellence and hard work, and experience with a top-tier practice in Family Law and Litigation matters --- In this role, you will assume full responsibility for the Firm's legal production pipeline-from Legal Strategy Sessions to the delivery of work to the client. You will also oversee and manage the legal team and support staff and ensure all legal work is completed efficiently, accurately, and on time Qualifications: --- Active member in good standing with local and state bar associations --- Bachelor's degree with a law degree from an accredited law school (such as an LLM, JSD, or J.D. degree) --- Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills are desired, as are exceptional writing and verbal communication skills --- 5 years of required experience as a senior associate in the legal field --- Must be able to handle heavy caseload with little supervision Additional job requirements are: --- You must have courtroom litigation experience with a track record of success --- You must be available for in-person appearances at mediations, meetings, and court proceedings in the following areas: From Albany, NY to Plattsburgh, New York. Outside of those responsibilities, daily work location is flexible. --- You are a thorough and precise researcher, writer, and speaker --- Your great technical acumen is matched by your patience, compassion, and attention to our clients and the successful resolution of their legal matters --- You are confident, flexible, growth-minded, and comfortable in a management role --- You have or are willing to take the following advanced training: Certified Divorce Specialist--- training, 30 hours of basic Mediation training, and 15 hours of Interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce training --- You are licensed in New York and have a clean professional discipline record You must be good with basic legal technology; specifically: --- Microsoft Office --- Adobe Acrobat Pro --- Westlaw --- Ooma --- Google Workspace Suite --- Dropbox --- Familiarity with Clio Grow, Clio Manage, and Family Law Software is a plus About Company: We are a fast-growing and innovative New York law firm that operates an established and highly regarded family law practice.
