The Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa is seeking a Clinical Trials & Data Management Research Assistant to support the Neurology Office of Clinical Trials (NOCT) on their clinical trials support team. This position will assist the clinical research nurse coordinators with the recruiting and retaining subjects, performing data entry, processing and shipping lab samples for clinical trials, and other various research study activities. The Research Assistant will also perform clinical/health care research activities in a skilled/specialized area: screening patients for study eligibility, receiving patient consent for clinical trials, and educating patients (i.e., scope of study, potential risks and benefits, possible alternatives, study requirements, etc.). This role works closely with the principal investigator and clinical research nurse coordinator.Responsibilities Include: * Consult with researchers to assist in developing a data management plan for clinical trials research studies. * Design forms to facilitate the collection and tracking of study participant data, study drugs, biological specimens and study procedures. * Design and coordinate field tests for data collection forms and assisting in design of certification procedures. * Assist with clinical and data coordination for research activities, including screening, recruiting, enrolling, and obtaining participant consent for clinical trials. * Assist in managing data validation, including query resolutions and the reporting of data. * Conduct audit to assess quality assurance. * Perform all data processing tasks: enter data, verify data, identify problem data, generate queries, etc. * Coordinate the processing of data from various sites/centers/studies. * Develop procedures for on-site data audits, including the design and generation of reports for use in data audits. * Participate in audits and summarize results of audits, write reports. * May provide functional and/or administrative supervision. Mentor new staff under direction. * May perform other duties within scope as requested by supervisor. Pay Grade: 3A - https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/plansPercent of Time: 100% Please note: This is a specified term position that will last 12 months. An extension may be reviewed after the initial 12 months but is not guaranteed.This position is expected to begin in or around June 2024 unless otherwise discussed during interviews. Required Qualifications * A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Must have excellent organizational skills and must be reliable and efficient with time management * Evidence of a dedication to completing tasks and willingness to work at agreed upon times is critical. * Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate (written and spoken) effectively with vendors, collaborators, patients, and their families. * Strong basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Access PowerPoint, Word) * Regular and reliable attendanceDesired Qualifications * Experience with Epic or other electronic medical records (EMR) systems * Prior involvement with clinical trials * CPR/BLS Certification Application DetailsIn order to be considered for an interview, applicants must upload the following documents and mark them as a "Relevant File" to the submission: * Letter of Interest/Cover Letter * Resume Job openings are posted for a minimum of 14 calendar days.
