Laboratory TechnicianBCForward is currently looking for highly motivated Laboratory Technician at Johnston, IA 50131. Position Title: Laboratory Technician Location: Johnston, IA 50131 Expected Duration: 6 months. Estimated Start Date: 5/6/2024. Pay Rate: $ 21.50/hr. Shift: M-F daytime working hours Job Description: * We are looking for a Lab Technician for a research lab in our company, located in Johnston, Iowa. * With guidance from supervision, this person will assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research. * Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the team.Duties will include: * Culture and process microbial strains. * Extract total protein from bacteria and plant samples. * Provide support in sample prep for whole genome sequencing. * Maintain inventory of basic lab supplies and equipment. * Maintain detailed biological sample inventory in the lab. * Migrate inventory records into databases. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.Requirements: * Bachelors degree in Microbiology or other related science. * Previous laboratory experience is preferred. * Proficient knowledge of and experience in aseptic techniques. * Very good organization skills. * Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.Other experience (Preferred but not required) * Experience to work with BSL-2 microorganisms. * Experience with molecular biology techniques. * Experience in genomic DNA extraction from biological samples.Benefits: BCforward offers all eligible employees a comprehensive benefits package including, but not limited to major medical, HSA, dental, vision, employer-provided group life, voluntary life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, and 401k.
