Lead Friday Program Preschool Teacher

Summary As a Lead Early Childhood Friday Teacher, you will work with a co-teacher to supervise up to 16 students. Typical days start with classroom work, circle time, snack and then outside time. Afternoons flow into lunch, rest and activities or more outside time. You will have the creativity to build curriculum and facilitate their day, as our Friday program is a mixture of students from various classes. There is a lot of room for leadership and development in how Fridays are structured. This position is currently 8:00-4:00 in the classroom on Fridays, with 1-2 hours/week of paid prep time. There may be additional teaching or subbing work available as well. Duties Plans and implements age-appropriate curriculum throughout the year. Oversees the daily flow of the classroom, including set up, student care and engagement, end of day clean up, parent/guardian interactions, and teaching team collaboration. Meets regularly with team teacher(s) for planning weekly/monthly lessons, reviewing children. Maintains close communication with team teacher(s) and other staff members. Sets up and cleans up the classroom (at beginning/end of school year) in partnership with the classroom team. Maintains a record keeping system to track the children?s progress, in partnership with the classroom team. Used various assessment tools/strategies such as observations, children? work samples, continuums of development, portfolios, etc. to help make instructional decisions for individual students. Maintains a safe, clean environment; practices hand washing and safe food handling procedures, and assures the well-being and safety of all of the children in that environment. Orders classroom materials and supplies within the classroom/program budget. Directs daily activities including: music and art, practical life activities, sensorial work, cooking projects, outdoor play, lunch set up and clean up, afternoon snack, toileting needs, and nap time. Requirements 3 years experience working in a setting with preschool-aged children (preferably) or school-aged children, preferably in a child-centered environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children, parents and other staff members. Nurturing, calm, kind and respectful, with an open attitude towards all children and families. Is creative, flexible, loving and patient. Can lift 30+ lbs Ability to fulfill all Washington State's Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) requirements (TB test, MMR vaccination & pass a portable background check.) Willingness to complete training upon hire: Food Handler?s certificate, Pediatric First Aid/CPR, HIV/AIDS and Bloodborne Pathogens Certificate, and Safe Sleep certificate (paid).
