WE ARE HIRING JOIN OUR TEAM The City of Georgetown is now accepting applications for an Heavy Equipment Operator I Position Overview: Operates heavy equipment for the maintenance and construction of city streets, bridges, driveways, and sidewalks as well as for the collection of street debris and residential solid waste. Reports to Streets Crew Leader. Physical Requirements & Working Environment: Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment and exert force to push, lift, reach, carry, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, crouch, crawl, or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking and standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 100 pounds. Qualifications and Requirements: High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or Vocational School Diploma and a minimum of one (1) year of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid South Carolina Driver's License. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment. Comments/Special Qualifications Required: Under general supervision, operates heavy equipment, collects, transports and disposes solid waste and curbside debris materials from city right of ways. Keeps streets and right of ways free of garbage and debris materials; assists with other department duties as required. Works under limited supervision with Public Works Supervisor and Department Manager to ensure efficient waste collections while providing a safe work environment.
